The Fusion we have been waiting for: Asus U32U-RX015

AMD Fusion chipsets combine low cost with sufficient performance. We have seen them in small 11-12 inch ultraportables and larger 14.1-inch laptops. Now Asus has placed the AMD E-450 in a nice 13.3-inch case, which makes for a good balance between portability and utility.

The specifications are typical for a AMD E-450 ultraportable with a 1366 x 768 resolution display, ATI 6320 graphics, 2GB of RAM and 320 GB hard drive. Some version comes with a USB 3.0 port, but we have not confirmed whether or not the version being sold in the Philippines has a USB 3.0 port.

The once specification it does have which will impress is the 8-cell battery 5600 mAh battery which should make for a good 7-9 hour of battery life. It packs all this in 0.75 inch thin frame, making  it almost as  thin MacBook Air (0.67-inches) or Intel's new Ultrabooks.  Despite the large battery, the weight is still a reasonable 3.7 pounds.

Being an AMD Fusion based platform, it cost nothing like a MacBook Air or even one of Intel's lower cost Ultrabooks. Priced at Php24,995 without an operating system and Php29,995 with Windows 7 Home Basic.

I have to give this one a look, but unless there is anything seriously wrong with it, it looks like this will be the best low cost ultraportable in market.
