Globe Telecom announces is first LTE handset

Two days after Smart Communications announcement of its LTE handset launch on December 21, 2012, Globe Telecom has announced that it is now offering the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE. 


The Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is available for free at Globe Unli Surf 1799. This plan comes unlimited data, P800 monthly consumable, and three (3) call and text freebies that can be change monthly. The  Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is also offered at at Unli Surf 999 plus P500 a month for the handset, or Php1,499 (but you are much better off at Plan 1799). 

A prepaid kit for the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is also available at P21,000. 

The Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is an Android phone with a 4.3-inch qHD (540 x 960) display. It is powered by a 1.5GH dual core processor backed by 1GB RAM. Internal storage is just 4 GB, but is expandable up to 32 GB via a MicroSD card. The battery powering the phone is a 1800 mAh unit. All in all, it is very decent phone for the Php21,000 asking price.


Globe is promising that it LTE peak speeds will be up to 60 Mbps for outdoor coverage and 30 Mbps for deployments inside buildings.  Globe has also promised it will launch other LTE handsets, including an LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S III.
